Our verdict

ASML reported 11,643,000 tCO2e for 2025, 99.8% of it Scope 3, and the size of that footprint brings the 0.70x size deduction. Gross Scope 3 fell in each of the last two years but is up 53% on 2019. It reports 100% renewable electricity at the end of 2025; all 525,147 MWh purchased is backed by certificates, bundled and unbundled, with no split published, and long-term contracts are named for the Netherlands and Taiwan but not sized. SBTi validated its targets: absolute for Scope 1 and 2, intensity for Scope 3. It has no water target. Natuurmonumenten raised concern about nitrogen from its Eindhoven campus permit; appeals are pending.

ASML scores 38/100 (Below expectations) on SINK's independent climate assessment, scored from public data only. Scores are free. Companies can never pay for anything about their own score. Last verified November 2026.

That places ASML joint 479th of 994 companies scored, and 9th of 19 in Industrial Equipment / Machinery.
